This meetup group is all about going out, having fun, but also being mindful about how we spend our money. There will be social events but also events where we meet to discuss such topics as: budgeting, debt management, investing.
The main distinguishing factor between this group and other social groups is that all events will be at low price points. Any restaurant event must enable a member to leave without spending more than $10 (including taxes) per person. This means that any organizer will have to be creative in finding excellent venues with good food but that don't exceed this amount. This may mean that restaurant events will be scheduled in Chinatown, Kensington, Little Korea and other ethnic areas because the food tends to be cheaper there but also terrific.
The other events that will be scheduled are free events around the city that are offered (Dundas Square is an example), the many festivals that are held in Toronto over the summer, free ROM nights, etc. Then there are "Pay What You Can" theatre performances, discount movie nights, half price martini nights. There is so much that can be done in Toronto while still keeping on a budget.
Finally, we may schedule some group shopping events. Perhaps we will go to a thrift store and shop and afterward grab a coffee, chat, and show off our finds.
